Lead your men like an army officer

Important officer likes qualities I learnt from my dad when he commanded an Indian army regiment in protecting India’s northern borders with Pakistan and China from 1986–90.

INITIATIVE QUALITY

An Army Officer will always initiate work and motivate all others to take part in the work.

RESOURCEFULNESS

A leader should be resourceful — a quality to finish the task even with limited resources.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

A good army officer can communicate effectively with his followers, and the objective is clear to the followers.

INFLUENCER QUALITY

An officer should be able to influence his subordinates for doing the desired work. If an officer fails to persuade his juniors, he will fail to accomplish the task assigned to him.

HUMAN UNDERSTANDING QUALITY

Understanding other humans are the essential officer like quality through which one can excel in his leadership. A defence officer should have the ability to understand humans and every human being, Ceo, Entrepeunuer and professional.

DELEGATION OF RESPONSIBILITY

Delegation of responsibility is a vital officer like quality. A successful leader should delegate his duties and responsibilities to his subordinates during their leadership tenure. A person cannot do all tasks by himself. Thus, to be successful one must delegate his work to others up to some extent.

LIVELINESS QUALITY

A leader should be lively enough to attract his men. If a leader is bland and unwelcoming, then people may not trust him. So an officer should have the quality of liveliness to impress his juniors.

SELF CONFIDENCE

Self-confidence is a must quality for an officer. It means you accept and trust yourself and have a sense of control in your life. You know your strengths and weakness well, and have a favourable view of yourself.

DECISION-MAKING QUALITY

One must be an excellent decision-maker to become a successful officer in the Indian Army; decision-making is critical in preventing major accidents and damage.

INTEGRITY AND LOYALTY

An Army, Navy or Air Force officer must have integrity and loyalty qualities. An officer should be loyal to his country to protect his land and countrymen, and if you are a CEO, you are devoted to the company and men you serve.

UNSELFISHNESS

A leader should not be selfish. If an officer becomes selfish, then the whole country may fell in the risk of being attacked or intruded.

BASIC / FUNDAMENTAL INTELLIGENCE

A higher degree of intelligence is a must for successful leaders. Thus fundamental intelligence is one of the essential officers like qualities

PRACTICAL INTELLIGENCE

If a person has only theoretical knowledge and doesn’t know how to use it in his day to day life, then that person is less likely to succeed.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge is very vital when it comes to leadership. If you want to lead a group of people, you must have a fair amount of knowledge.

PHYSICAL FITNESS

Life in Indian Army / Navy / Air Force is very challenging and requires good mental as well as physical health.

Everything is a manipulation picking sides is one's choice.

I had the fortune to be raised in the soldiers’ family since the Britishers used India as a POW base for the axis alliance in world 2. I have learnt a trick or two now from my dad on how to leadmen successfully.
